IBAC and the business aviation community have long been dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from aircraft, with a proven record of advances in carbon reduction driven by the Business Aviation Commitment on Climate Change (BACCC).
As a result, the industry is on track to meet the aspirational goals it set for itself in 2009 within the BACCC, to reach carbon-neutral growth by 2020.
Increasing the industry’s uptake of SAF is critical but many in the industry still have questions about SAF. To answer these questions and explain what SAF is and what it is not, the SAF Coalition has an updated guide; Fueling the Future – Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The aim is to answer questions and allay any concerns that the community of operators, fixed-base operators (FBOs), owners, pilots, fuel providers, airports and others may have about the performance, safety and appropriateness of using sustainable alternative jet fuel wherever it is available. https://ibac.org/app/ibac/files-module/local/images/inlineArtboard 1.png
The SAF initiative, developed by a coalition of international aviation organizations, was created, first, to address the "knowledge gap" on the availability and safety of SAF and, second, to advance the proliferation of alternative jet fuels at all the logical touchpoints: the manufacturers, the ground handlers and the operators, at the regional, national and international levels. Details on the business aviation SAF events and additional SAF news can be found on the FutureofSustainableFuel.com website.
